  JUSTIN BIEBER has toppled SIR ELTON JOHN to take the title for the highest-certified single in U.S. history for his worldwide smash BABY.
  The teen superstar's hit single has gone 12-times platinum since its release in 2010, overtaking the Rocket Man's double-sided tribute to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Candle in the Wind/Something About the Way You Look Tonight, which went 11 times platinum in 1997.
  Bieber's latest accomplishment benefited from a recent rule change made by officials at the Recording Industry Association of America, incorporating on-demand streaming figures in addition to single sales.
  The switch enabled Baby, which has only sold 3.9 million copies, but has notched up over 857 million views of the promo on Vevo.com, to surpass Elton's release, which sold 33 million units.

  Hip-hop superstar JAY-Z has put an end to speculation his wife BEYONCE is pregnant with their second child, insisting the rumours are not true.
  The Crazy In Love hitmaker vented her frustration at ongoing reports suggesting she is expecting a sibling for 16-month-old daughter Blue Ivy by posting a scathing note on her Instagram.com page on Friday (17May13) - but she stopped short at denying the claims outright.
  The message read: "I can't stop the rumors from starting, and I can't really change peoples (sic) minds who believe them, all I can do is sit back and laugh at these low life people who have nothing better to do than talk about me."
  The note was promptly removed, and she took to her other social networking account on Tumblr to share photos from the couple's recent trip to Cuba - with one picture, showing her surrounded by happy kids and captioned with the hash tag "#mylife", only serving to fuel the pregnancy talk.
  However, Jay-Z has now broken his silence on the issue in a bid to silence the rumours once and for all in email correspondence with New York DJ Ebro Darden.
  The Hot 97 programme director explains, "I emailed on some congratulations - 'Send my love to the family, blah, blah, blah'. He hit me back and said, 'It's not true'."

  Hip-hop icon DR. DRE surprised graduating students at the University of Southern California on Friday (17May13) by making an unannounced appearance at their commencement ceremony.
  The Still D.R.E. hitmaker's pal and business partner, Interscope Records boss Jimmy Iovine, delivered the commencement speech to the class of 2013 after receiving his own honorary degree, and he had a special guest join him onstage to celebrate.
  Introducing Dre, Iovine said, "Walking around USC today, it seems like everyone's a doctor, which is funny 'cause I brought my partner here today, who also happens to be a doctor. So, in the words of the great Slim Shady (Eminem), will the real Dr. Dre please stand up and join me on stage?"
  Stepping up to the podium, the rapper referenced the school's athletic teams as he told the students: "I am excited and I am proud to now be a member of the Trojan family. I would also like to say congratulations to the University of Southern California's Class of 2013."
  Dre and Iovine's appearance at the USC graduation came just days after they announced plans to donate $70 million (£45 million) to the school to fund the establishment of the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation, which will provide four-year programs for students starting next year (14).
